The 2014 Fleet Forum Best Transport Award has been awarded to Oxfam, in recognition of the excellent results achieved after introducing fleet management technology from TerraMar Networks globally.
Oxfam has rolled out vehicle tracking hardware and the tracpoint fleet management software across its worldwide operations, spread over 40 countries and covering around 320 vehicles. This has resulted in an 11% reduction in fuel costs, with gross annual savings of about £165,000 and an extremely impressive 76% reduction in over-speeding.
The award, which was presented at the culmination of the 12th Annual Fleet Forum Conference, co-hosted by UNHCR in Budapest, Hungary, reflected the main theme of the conference, “Executing Fleet Excellence.”
Tim Moyle, Global Fleet Manager for Oxfam and project director, accepted the award on behalf of the Oxfam staff around the world who have delivered the project. Tim spoke about the process for implementing a global strategy and the sustaining impact of the change in the culture that has resulted.
Tony Connolly, Commercial Manager from TerraMar Networks, attended this year’s conference and commented, “This is the fourth time I’ve been to the Fleet Forum Conference and it’s clear that Government and Non-Government Organisations working in this sector are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits that a high quality vehicle tracking and fleet management solution can provide. We’re proud to have played a key role in helping Oxfam to improve road safety and release precious resources for their critical humanitarian work on the ground.”
